Sattu Kadhi tastes very close to regular kadhi. And making the pakoras in the appe pan is another plus. The look at the kadhi will make you fall in love. Just that the texture of pakoris will be little dense but otherwise they taste good.

I feel this worked as a good option for us when you are looking to include Sattu in your diet. Also Sattu make the kadhi more digestible as compared to besan due to its roasted composition. So it’s much lighter on your system and adding pakoras made in appe pan, it of course is an additional benefit.

Do try this Sattu Kadhi and enjoy with your family but like anything else do not miss a good ghee tadka.

Also if you are looking for more Kadhi’s here are some more variations , I have tried: Kadhi Recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Sattu
  • 1/2 cup Besan
  • 1 cup Curd
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek Seeds
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp Chopped Garlic
  • 1 Chopped Tomato
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Eno

Instructions

  1. 1

Take a bowl and add 1/2 cup besan and 1/4 cup sattu and with 1/2 cup water mix it well. Keep mixing it till when you drop it in water ,the drop floats. This takes good 15 mins.

  2. 2

Next add 1 tsp of eno in this mix and gently mix, heat the appe pan and grease it lightly in and then add 1 tbsp batter in the moulds and cover and cook both sides till they are done and keep aside.

  3. 3

Now heat a wok and add oil and mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves and then add some garlic and chopped onions and cook till its done.

  4. 4

Add a tomato and cook till its done and add little cumin powder, turmeric and cook for a minute too.

  5. 5

Now in a bowl add curd and 2 tbsp sattu and mix well , add little water and make a slurry.

  6. 6

Gradually add this slurry into the wok and keep mixing otherwise the curd would curdle.

  7. 7

Once it starts bubbling up, add the pakoras gently and mix it in the kadhi.

  8. 8

Now for the tempering you heat a pan and add ghee and then some fenugreek seeds, hing/asafoetida , dried red chilli and once it splutters add 1 pinch red chilli powder and curry leaves and add this into the kadhi.

  9. 9

Serve this with steamed rice and enjoy.
